1. Before shopping from a store that is new to you, learn what the store's reputation is like. You can usually do a web-based search and learn what others think of the business. It is best to do that so you may not find out the tough way and lose your money.
2. Learn the online store's return policy. In case you are considering making a purchase on an item that you may want to return, be sure you find out if returning the item is an option. Sometimes when you shop online, items can not be returned and you may not want to be stuck with an unwanted item.
3. Be cautious which sites you patronize. It is difficult to find out which are on the up or higher and which can be not, but there are a few clues. If the address does not seem sensible or the design seems off, go to a different site. Furthermore, if a variety of pop-up windows begin appearing, close them out and move on.
4. Look for the right times to shop online. Often the stores that you frequent will have online sales that follow a time pattern. Many, for instance, schedule sales for the beginning of the month or at the end. When you see there's a pattern, hold off on buying anything until the upcoming sales period begins.
5. If a company includes a newsletter, register. Often, companies will give sneak peeks, special deals and discount codes to people on the mailing list. However, be careful. You don't want to sign up for every company's newsletter or you'll soon be buried under endless emails. Only join a company's newsletter in the event you really like their goods and would use a discount code.
